HOW THE FOOT AFFECTS YOUR POSTURE

Posture refers to the way the body positions itself in relation to gravity, and specifically how the tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints and bones work together to keep the body upright. The foot has a huge influence on your overall posture, with limitation in the feet translating over to the rest of the body consider the feet are the foundation.

A strong foundation at the feet allows for proper function through the rest of the body. Without this foundation, the ankle, knees, hips and spine have no option but to compensate for the way the foot is moving by adapting to unideal positions. When this occurs, it causes undue pain, changes in walking patterns, muscle tightness, arthritis, scoliosis, pain and much more.

The foot should evenly distribute pressure across its surface area, but sometimes we can also get focal pressure points that create painful corns and callus. This is manageable by removing the build up of overgrown skin and possibly redistributing the pressure to the remainder of the foot’s surface area.
